Your Friendly Guide to Networking at the Spring Conference!
By Rose Unal
Networking can seem intimidating, but if you keep these tips in mind, it can be a great experience!
Do some prep ahead of time. Prior to the Spring Conference, look up the different speakers for the panels that interest you and learn about them! It can make it easier to start a conversation with them, and to find something you may have in common with them.
Don’t be afraid to go up to people. We know it can seem scary, but the speakers are here for you. We have several alumni joining us, so try your best to make the most of the day.
Advocate for yourself. Let them know about your strengths. It can seem weird to talk about yourself, but it’s a great way to show the unique skills you offer as a person.
The conversation can be casual. Establishing a connection with someone is the best way to go. The conversation doesn’t have to be serious, just having a good conversation with someone is a success.
You don’t have to do it alone. It can be scary to go up to a new person alone, so feel free to go up with another person. It can make the experience seem less daunting.
