Revitalize & Refresh: Skincare Recommendations

By Kirsten Calma

Ever since I was young, I've been fascinated by the world of beauty and skincare- admiring YouTubers like Michelle Phan, Ingrid Nelson, and Bethany Mota. Growing up watching their recommendations has allowed me to grow an appreciation for my own skincare routine. As I've gained experience and insight from articles and videos alike, here are a few products that have become my holy grail. Considering that everyone has different skin types, I hope these products will work for you the same way they have helped my skincare journey!

Aquaphor

I've recently incorporated Aquaphor into my skincare routine and daily lip care. As a petroleum jelly-based product, its consistency is comparable to vaseline, but I prefer Aquaphor. Moreover, this product can be used for "slugging," an increasingly popular method to lock in the moisture from your skincare routine; to slug, I slather Aquaphor on my face after I've completed my PM routine.

The Ordinary Serums

During the initial quarantine period, I discovered serums from The Ordinary (specifically the Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Alpha Arbutin ones). I incorporate them into my AM and PM routine by applying the serums after washing my face, and I follow up with my CeraVe moisturizer and SPF. Overall, the serums helped restore my skin's moisture barrier and decreased scarring.
